Artist: Maria Psarianou
Maria Psarianou was born and continues to reside in Thessaloniki, a city known for its rich cultural heritage. Her educational journey began with the study of Law at the Democritus University of Thrace. However, her passion for artistic expression led her to explore a different path. She embarked on a quest to master the art of handmade jewelry construction and design at the renowned MOKUME School, where she eventually became a teacher, sharing her expertise and techniques with aspiring jewelry artisans.
Adorned predominantly with pearls, her creations exude a sense of timeless elegance and sophistication. Her artistic sensibility is a captivating blend of curvilinear plastic forms and austere geometry, resulting in jewelry that truly mesmerizes the beholder.
Maria Psarianou’s passion for her craft extends beyond her own creations. She is a founding member of J.A.W. (Jewelry Art Workers), a collective of talented artists who strive to push the boundaries of jewelry design. Through this collaborative endeavor, she has not only contributed to the advancement of her own artistic practice but has also facilitated a platform for innovative ideas and creative exploration within the jewelry art world. Her work has been showcased in numerous group visual arts exhibitions, further cementing her place as a respected figure within the artistic community.
