Think about jewellery differently. It's not just about adornment; it's about storytelling. Imagine being the canvas upon which a narrative unfolds, the voice echoing essential messages to the world. That's the essence of Raluca Buzura's extraordinary creations, that I am so much found of. Hailing from Romania but now calling Spain home, Raluca's porcelain jewellery transcends the ordinary, offering glimpses into worlds unseen.
Her collections, "Bleached" and "Extinct Species", draw inspiration from the depths of our oceans, reminding us of the urgent need to protect our marine ecosystems. These pieces aren't just accessories; they're conversations waiting to happen, narratives waiting to be heard.
At OBJECT, prepare to encounter exclusivity at its finest.
With "The Radiography of a Ghost" a one-of-a-kind creation, Raluca is questioning: "How much time do we have left until all that remains for us to admire is just a skeleton?"
And then there's "X-ray," inspired by the skeleton of a stingray fish, this necklace is more than jewellery; it's an immediate call to action.
Can't make it to the event? Don't worry; I am here for you. Reach out, inquire, and let's start a conversation. These pieces, each one-of-a-kind, won't be found online but they are available for purchase.
At the event and online we will unveil more treasures, each one a testament to the power of art to move hearts and minds.
Naturalia is a jewellery collection where nature intersects with human processes, designed by artist Adelina Petcan, who has recently joined The Sense of Beauty designer lineup. Originally from Romania, Adelina holds a Master of Arts degree from KONSTFACK, University College of Arts, Crafts, and Design in Stockholm.
Apart from the collection's captivating forms, what particularly draws me to it is its exploration of the importance of time and humans’ intervention in nature. Naturalia embodies a fusion of organic forms, shaped by processes dictated solely by natural elements like time and temperature. These forms are then artfully contextualized on the human body using traditional goldsmithing techniques, resulting in pieces that are not just jewellery but also statements of harmony between humanity and the natural world.
In the world of contemporary jewellery design, Ausra Bankauskaite, Lithuanian born, New York based artist, stands as a prime example of innovation, reshaping the very essence of sustainability with her visionary approach to modular jewellery. She ingeniously crafts pieces that transcend mere adornment, seamlessly integrating versatility and eco-consciousness into every facet of her creations.
At the core of her design philosophy lies the concept of modularity – the idea that a single piece of jewellery can serve multiple purposes, be worn in multiple ways, or even combined with pieces you already have in your wardrobe. I'm inspired by how Ausra challenges the conventional notion of jewellery as static, finite objects, instead filling her creations with a dynamic spirit that encourages exploration and reinvention.
Each piece conceived by Ausra is meticulously crafted to be inherently modular, characterized by interchangeable components and adaptable forms. A necklace, for instance, can be broken down and transformed into an earring. A pair of earrings can be broken down into multiple pieces and combined between them or even with the already existing earrings from your jewellery wardrobe. It's this thoughtful craftsmanship that resonates with me on a personal level, sparking my imagination and encouraging me to see jewellery in a whole new light.
And finally, at OBJECT you will also see my collection. The Heritage Collection started from an old piece that was left to me as a "heritage" by a friend's aunt, many years ago. There was a box full of junk, she was getting rid of it, and I tried to save as much as possible of what I found there. Many pieces were out of date, broken, mismatched...etc... Over the years I made jewellery pieces from that box that I wore. This is how the Heritage Collection was born from my desire to celebrate the past. We are part of it and I think it is our duty to take care of the legacy that was left to us, regardless of its form. It may be a physical object, it may be a talent, it may be the planet…
